Water is a common ingredient in most cleaning projects, however, even water can leave spots behind on the carpets. It is typically due to excess minerals in hardwater, but the water can leave unsightly marks on your carpets. Spilling a glass of water can really blemish the carpets, especially if they are neglected for any length of time. The water spot collects any dirt and debris that was beneath the surface and pushes it to the top, with the addition filth that continues to fall in the general location. Cleaning up any spills immediately, including water spills, can prevent staining and spotting. Bearing this in mind, we at Carpet Dry-Tech would like to take the opportunity to share how to effectively remove the water spot from your carpets.

Carpet Stain Removal Treatment
Lightly mist a microfiber cloth with the solution, you do not want the cloth to be excessively damp. Avoid saturating the cloth, and most importantly, the carpet. Over saturating the carpets can cause water damage and contribute to mold growth. Next, with the cloth, gently and quickly, blot the water spot. Repeat to allow the solution to breakup the dirt. After the spot has loosened, use your treated cloth to continue to blot out the stain. Never rub or scrub as this only cause the stain to worsen as it spreads out further and is pushed deeper into the carpet’s fibers. Repeat blotting until the stain is removed. Once satisfied the stain is clear, use a clean, cloth that is damp with pure water to blot the solution completely out completely and any lingering residues. Avoid over saturating the cloth to help prevent over saturating the carpets. After you rinsed the solution away by blotting the area with a clean, damp cloth, ensure the area is dry. Start by using a dry cloth to remove the excess moisture by blotting. Follow up by placing a dry towel over the area and stack some heavy objects on top of the towel to allow the deep moisture to draw up into the towel. Leave it alone until the next day. Your final step is to generously sprinkle baking soda over the area to allow any residual moisture to absorb into the baking soda while neutralizing any developing odors. After 2-3 hours of letting the baking soda do its magic, take your vacuum and slowly vacuum the remnants.
