Does Baking Soda or Vinegar Remove Blood from Carpet?

Whenever you have a blood stain on your carpet, it is best to work as quickly as possible to remove it. The longer the blood sits on the carpet fibers, the more saturated they will be. This will result in a difficult stain to remove. Here are the best ways to remove blood from your carpet.
– OxiClean: OxiClean can be a helpful tool to have when you are dealing with a blood stain. You simply mix it with warm water until the powder has had time to dissolve. Once dissolved, gently pour the mixture on the blood stain and let it sit for up to five minutes. After giving it that time to do its magic, you can use a clean cloth to blot away the stain.
– Hydrogen Peroxide: You should be cautious anytime you are using hydrogen peroxide on your carpet as it can cause discoloration to occur. For this reason, test an inconspicuous area of carpet for colorfastness. If it passes the test, you can saturate a cotton ball and blot the stain away after allowing it to sit for up to one hour.
– Cold Water: If you are hesitant to use any chemicals on your carpet and have caught the problem soon enough, you can usually get blood up simply using cold water to do it. You should spray or pour cold water on the stain and use a rag to blot up the blood. This can be repeated as many times as needed to remove the stain completely.
– Liquid Dish Soap: Fill a bucked with warm water and add about 2 teaspoons of liquid dish soap and combine. Using a clean, white cloth, you can saturate it in the mixture and then use the cloth to saturate the stain. It can be helpful to have more than one wet cloth to work with as you gently blot up the stain. You will need to rinse the soap out of the carpet fibers when you are finished.
– Baking Soda: After blotting any excess blood with a paper towel, sprinkle a generous amount of baking soda onto the stain and pour a little bit of water on it. Blot the stain with a cloth until the carpet is completely dry and use a wet/dry vacuum to remove any excess moisture.
– Vinegar: White vinegar poured directly on the stain can help dissolve it. You may need to soak it in the vinegar for about thirty minutes and then rinse with cold water a few times to fully clear the stain.
